Let's change a Bishop Ward student's life forever!

For Hispanic Heritage month, please join the Academy of Finance and Bishop Ward High School community in helping Hispanic students at Bishop Ward to accomplish their goals after graduating high school. Through the Hispanic Development Fund Scholarship's "Cambio Para Cambio" program, not only can Ward Hispanic graduates be able to attend and graduate from college, but they also will be on the path to help make lasting change for their families as well as the Wyandotte County community.

Bishop Ward is a community that prides itself on its history of diversity, and the rich cultural heritage of its student body. Even though only 2.3 percent of Hispanic school-aged students in America are enrolled in Catholic schools (according to a 2016 study from Boston College), as of 2017, 68 percent of our student body identified as Hispanic, a stark contrast to the national numbers. Thus, it is more important than ever that we are not only providing the best education possible for our Hispanic students while at Ward, but also ensuring that they have the opportunity to succeed in college and whatever career path they choose when they graduate. The Hispanic Development Fund has helped provide a small number of scholarships to our Hispanic graduates in the past, but through the "Cambio Para Cambio" fundraiser this Hispanic Heritage month (Sept. 15th-Oct.15th), we can ensure that even MORE Ward Hispanic graduates can secure the funding they need to ensure that college is an option after graduation.

With the help of the Academy of Finance students, faculty, and board members, we will be holding some special events and activities at school to help reach our fundraising goal of $3,000. However, YOU can also help us directly by donating on this fundraising page. Every donation toward our "Cambio Para Cambio" fundraiser counts, and no donation is too small. Even a small donation will go a long way to helping the Ward community's goal.

Would you give $10 to help us reach our goal? Your support will make a real difference in the lives of our Hispanic students at Ward and the community they live in. By sparing just a little bit of change, we can help make long-term change not only in the lives of our students at Bishop Ward, but the Wyandotte County community as a whole!

Thank your for your help and generosity to #cambioparacambio, and thank you for making a difference in our students' lives and futures!

Sincerely,

Kevin O'Brien

Academy of Finance Director at Bishop Ward High School
