Some of you have followed my difficult journey with KU scholarships/endowment and understand that I have, sadly and regrettably, discontinued my scholarship at KU for first generation immigrant students (stupid DEI nonsense from the trump regime is to blame).
My husband and I have started a new scholarship through the Greater Kansas City Community Foundation and the HIspanic Development Fund.
Our scholarship is in honor of our son, Charles (Chuck) Burger who died of cancer in 2018. He dedicated his life to education, especially education of disadvantaged children, Native Americans, POC, Hispanic, etc. and never stopped advocating for them. He believed
education could change lives....and we also believe that.
Our new scholarship is the Chuck Burger Memorial Brighter Future Scholarship Fund and is designed to help Hispanic students in the greater Kansas City area change their lives through education.During October 2025, the contributions to our scholarship fund will be DOUBLED and we are inviting all of you, especially those of you who knew or were touched by Chuck, to make a contribution....any amount is good and will help...$5, $50, $500, etc....whatever
you feel is right.
