$1,100 towards $10,000

Every year during Hispanic Heritage Month, Guadalupe Centers High School, in partnership with the Hispanic Development Fund (HDF), participates in the scholarship fundraiser, Cambio para Cambio.

From now until October 31st, every cent donated will be matched 100% by generous HDF Scholarship donors, doubling the impact of our collective giving power. This scholarship started to help our undocumented/DACA students. Last year thanks to generous donations from donors like you, we were able to give 22 scholarships to our graduating seniors.

Here is a testimonial from one of the HDF Scholarship recipient.

"In 9th grade, I went to my college counselor’s office. The school I attended then did not have experience with undocumented students. He was first blown away that a 9th grader was eager to plan on how to attend college, and then, as we proceeded to search for scholarships, the energy in the room became doomed. “Sorry, Sam, I cannot find scholarships for you, and if you want to attend college in Missouri, you’d have to pay an international tuition rate.” Fortunately, I knew there had to be something for me somewhere. I transferred to Guadalupe Centers High School. I knew I had made the right choice.
I was blessed to have received many scholarships, enough to allow me to attend college with the peace of mind that the remaining work was in my hands. HDF granted me the Pell Project Scholarship. Today, after four years of what I would describe as “a path full of growth,” I am a graduate of two degrees: a B.S. in Business Administration Marketing and a B.A. in Political Science. I am the business owner of Access Translation and Marketing LLC, translating and transcreating marketing efforts into Spanish. I am in the field I always dreamed of, working with Advocates for Immigrant Rights and Reconciliation. So, I thank all of you for the vital part you’ve played in my life. I hope that although we may not know each other personally, you know I am forever thankful. Whatever one puts into this world does matter, Gracias.:"
